Access, honestly

Greenwich is really two different places to work

We quote here every week, and the deciding factor is almost never distance — it’s what kind of space your car is sitting in.

Profile 01 — Peninsula & North Greenwich

Secure underground and podium parking

The new-build blocks around the Peninsula, North Greenwich and parts of Charlton mostly park underground or on a podium deck. That can work well — it’s out of the weather — but it has its own rules.

  • Low-clearance ramps: we ask for the height limit before we travel
  • Concierge or building management usually needs to book us in
  • A parking bay or a loading bay we can legally occupy, not a fire route
  • Lighting, ventilation and where a generator can safely sit
Profile 02 — Woolwich, Thamesmead & Abbey Wood

Permit bays, service roads and estates

Further east the picture changes: permit-controlled bays, communal parking decks and service roads. Abbey Wood is an Elizabeth line terminus, so commuter parking pressure is real and a daytime space can be hard to find.

  • Read the bay plate with us — controlled hours vary street by street
  • A quiet mid-morning slot is usually easiest on a residential street
  • Communal decks are fine if we can work around one side of the car
  • We’ll say plainly if a location won’t work, before you book

How it works

A clear quote in three steps

No call centre and no vague estimates — here’s the whole process from your first photo to a finished repair.

01

Send photos

Share a close-up, a wider panel view, your vehicle details and your Greenwich postcode. Mention whether the car is on a street, a driveway or in a building car park.

02

Review your options

We assess the damage and explain the suitable work and the quote — including when a repair genuinely isn’t worth doing.

03

Arrange the visit

If you’re happy to proceed we confirm availability, access, and the workspace and clearance the location needs.

Local coverage

Areas of Greenwich we cover

The borough runs from the river at Greenwich Peninsula all the way out to Eltham and Mottingham, and takes in some of the widest variation in housing type anywhere in South East London.

SE10 · SE3 · SE7 · SE9 · SE18 · SE28

Those are the core districts. Parts of SE2, SE12, DA15, DA16 and DA7 also fall inside the borough around Abbey Wood, Thamesmead, Falconwood and Mottingham, so if you sit on a boundary send your postcode and we’ll confirm rather than guess.

Blackheath, Westcombe Park and Maze Hill

Leafier streets with more driveways and off-street parking. This is where interior restoration and premium valeting tend to make most sense, because a driveway gives us room and shelter to do the work properly.

Getting to you

Greenwich sits between the A2 Rochester Way, the A205 South Circular and the A102 approach to Blackwall, so we plan around the times those routes actually move. The good news: Greenwich is outside the Congestion Charge zone, so there’s no crossing cost added to a job here.

Getting a mobile repair in Greenwich

What actually decides whether your repair can happen where your car is parked.

Send photos

Underground and podium car parks

A basement or podium bay is genuinely one of the better places to work — it’s dry, the light is consistent and there’s no weather to fight. What we need from you is the clearance height, whether the building needs us booked in, and a bay we can occupy legally rather than a fire lane or someone else’s space. If a concierge or building manager needs to be involved, tell us early and we’ll arrange it with you.

Workplace visits around North Greenwich and Canary Wharf

A lot of Greenwich owners commute, and a repair done in the office car park while you work is the most efficient option there is. It works best when the car is somewhere it can stay put for a few hours without being moved, and when we can confirm the site allows a contractor to work on a vehicle.

Permit bays, service roads and communal decks

In Woolwich, Plumstead, Thamesmead and Abbey Wood the obstacle is usually finding a legal working position rather than space itself. Controlled hours vary street by street, so the plate governs — not a general assumption about the borough. Often the simplest answer is a nearby street with unrestricted parking, or a slot outside the controlled period.

Abbey Wood and the Elizabeth line effect

Since Abbey Wood became an Elizabeth line terminus, daytime parking around the station has become genuinely competitive. If your car is parked on a residential street near the station, an early or mid-morning appointment is usually far easier to work around than trying to hold a space all afternoon.

Matchday and event traffic

Charlton Athletic at The Valley and events at The O2 both change the traffic and parking picture locally. If your appointment lands on a matchday or a big O2 night, mention it and we’ll plan the timing around it rather than fight it.

Lease returns before hand-back

The Peninsula and North Greenwich have a very high share of leased and PCP cars, and kerbed alloys are the single most common inspection charge. Getting wheels and bumper corners assessed before the inspection is normally much cheaper than the recharge.

How to photograph damage properly

  • One close-up — fill the frame with the damage, in daylight, no flash.
  • One wider shot — the whole panel, so we can judge position and extent.
  • One of the car — a three-quarter view showing make, model and colour.
  • Your postcode — plus whether it’s a street, driveway or building car park.
  • Mention the extras — sensors, cameras, wraps, previous repairs or a ceramic coating.

Straight answers

What we can and can’t repair on a mobile visit

Most repairers don’t tell you what they’ll turn down. We’d rather you knew before you send photos.

✓

Suitable for a mobile repair

  • Bumper scuffs, corner scrapes and localised bumper damage
  • Paintwork scratches, including marks through the clear coat
  • Minor dents where the paint is still intact
  • Kerbed, grazed and scuffed alloy wheels
  • Leather seat and interior trim restoration
  • Valeting, tyre fitting and at-location breakdown support
✗

Not a mobile job

  • Structural or chassis damage
  • Cracked, split or collapsed bumpers needing replacement
  • Full panel replacement or a complete respray
  • Work that needs a spray booth or baking oven
  • Insurance-funded accident repairs
  • Mechanical, engine or MOT work

If your photos show one of these we’ll say so straight away and explain what kind of repair you actually need.

Good to know

Greenwich mobile car repair FAQs

Often yes, and it can be a better place to work than the street because it’s dry and well lit. We need the clearance height, confirmation the building allows a contractor to work on site, and a bay we can occupy legally. Low-clearance ramps sometimes rule a van out, so tell us the height limit when you send photos.

Usually, yes — most Peninsula and North Greenwich blocks require a contractor to be booked in or signed in at reception. Mention it early and we’ll work with you and the building to arrange access before the visit rather than on the day.

A workplace visit is often the most efficient option if the car can stay parked for a few hours. The two things we check first are whether the site permits a contractor to work on a vehicle, and whether the car can remain undisturbed for the duration.

We cover the whole borough — Woolwich, Plumstead, Thamesmead, Abbey Wood, Charlton, Eltham, Kidbrooke, Shooters Hill, New Eltham and Mottingham included. Send your postcode and we’ll confirm straight away, along with whether the location suits mobile work.

We won’t work in a bay we can’t legally occupy — it isn’t worth a ticket or the risk to your car. In practice that means agreeing a nearby street with unrestricted parking, moving the car a short distance, or booking a slot outside the controlled hours. We’ll sort that out with you at quoting stage, not on the morning.

Yes, and it’s one of the most common reasons Greenwich drivers book. Kerb rash and scuffed rims are usually refinishable to a standard that satisfies a lease inspection. Getting them done before the inspection is normally far cheaper than the end-of-contract recharge.

Blackheath, Westcombe Park and Maze Hill are generally the easiest parts of the borough because more properties have driveways or off-street space. Charlton varies street by street. Either way, send the parking situation with your photos and we’ll confirm before booking.

It depends entirely on the damage — a small kerbed alloy and a bumper needing refinishing are very different jobs. That’s why we quote from photos of your actual car rather than publishing a generic figure. Send them and you’ll get a real number before anyone travels.

We work seven days: Monday to Friday 8am–6pm, Saturday 9am–6pm and Sunday 10am–5pm. If a job needs to fall outside those hours, ask and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s possible.

It’s the same mobile team, so jobs can often be combined — alloy refurbishment with bodywork repair, or an interior restoration with a premium valet. Mention everything when you send photos.
