02 — Getting to you
Three things decide how we reach a Southwark address. None of them are about distance.
Schematic, not to scale · we confirm your exact access before booking
03 — Access rules
Southwark is dense: Victorian and Georgian terraces, very little off-street parking and a lot of permit bays. These are the four things that decide whether we can work where your car is.
Controlled hours are set street by street in Southwark, so there is no borough-wide answer — the sign on the bay governs. A permit bay outside its controlled hours is often workable; inside them, it usually isn’t.
A double yellow means no waiting at any time — that includes bank holidays, and it includes us. We won’t park on one to work on your car, and we’d rather tell you that up front than have you watching for a warden.
Filtered streets and school-street timed closures are common across the borough, and they change what a van can reach. If your road is filtered, tell us — we’ll either agree a meeting point on the edge of the restriction or plan around the closure times.
04 — Coverage
From the river at Bankside down to Dulwich, the borough covers two very different kinds of street — and both are in range.

06 — Local guide
What actually decides whether a repair can happen where your car is parked.
Most Southwark enquiries come from flats on terraced streets with no off-street space, and those are perfectly workable. What we need is one car’s width of clear kerb alongside, room to open a door, and no obstruction of the pavement or a neighbour’s entrance. A quiet mid-morning slot is usually easiest.
The boundary runs along New Kent Road and Kennington Lane, so northern Southwark — Bankside, Borough, Elephant and Castle — is inside the zone, and everything south of that line is outside. The charge applies on weekdays 07:00–18:00 and weekends 12:00–18:00. If your car is north of the line, mention it when you send photos so it’s part of the plan from the start.
The tunnel bans vehicles over 2 metres high or wide and goods vehicles over 2 tonnes gross, enforced by a width restrictor and cameras. That rules out most mobile set-ups, so we route through Tower Bridge or Blackwall instead. It’s a small thing, but it tells you we’ve actually worked out how to get to you.
The streets around Borough Market are pedestrianised or restricted, and Dulwich Village has its own access restrictions and school streets. For addresses in those pockets we’ll usually agree a meeting point just outside the restriction and work there, or you bring the car to us at an agreed spot nearby.
Southwark has a very high share of leased and PCP cars, especially in Dulwich and Herne Hill. Kerbed alloys and bumper corner scuffs are the two items that get flagged at inspection most often, and sorting them before the inspection is normally far cheaper than the end-of-contract recharge.
Straight answers
Most repairers don’t tell you what they’ll turn down. We’d rather you knew before you send photos.
If your photos show one of these we’ll say so straight away and explain what kind of repair you actually need.
07 — Good to know
Sometimes, and it depends entirely on the bay. Controlled hours are set street by street here, so the sign governs rather than a borough-wide rule. Send the street name and a photo of the bay sign with your damage photos, and we’ll confirm before booking. If the bay doesn’t work, a nearby street with unrestricted parking usually does.
The boundary runs along New Kent Road and Kennington Lane, so Bankside, Borough and Elephant and Castle are inside it, and everything south of that line is outside. The charge applies on weekdays 07:00–18:00 and weekends 12:00–18:00. If your car is north of the line, tell us when you send photos so it’s factored into the plan from the start rather than being a surprise later.
Usually, with a small adjustment. Filtered streets and timed school-street closures change what a van can reach, so we’ll either agree a meeting point on the edge of the restriction or plan the visit around the closure times. Tell us the street and we’ll work it out with you rather than turn up and find out.
This is the normal case in Southwark, not the exception. We need roughly one car’s width of clear kerb alongside, room to open doors and set out tools, and no blocking of the pavement or a neighbour’s entrance. An interior restoration or valet needs almost no road space at all, so those are often the easiest jobs to do on a tight street.
Yes — the whole borough. That includes Bankside, Borough, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays, Walworth, Camberwell, Peckham, Nunhead, East Dulwich, Dulwich Village and Herne Hill. Send your postcode and we’ll confirm straight away, along with whether the location suits mobile work.
We avoid the closure windows and the school run entirely where we can. If your street is only accessible outside certain hours, we’ll book around that rather than take a slot that won’t work on the day. It’s easier for everyone if we agree the timing up front.
A single yellow is usually workable outside its controlled hours, and alloy work can often be done one wheel at a time, which helps on a tight street. A double yellow is a different matter — that means no waiting at any time, so it’s never a position we’ll work from.
Workplace visits are often the most efficient option, because the car can stay put for a few hours while you work. The two things we check first are whether the site permits a contractor to work on a vehicle, and whether the car can remain undisturbed for the duration.
It depends entirely on the damage — a small kerbed alloy and a bumper needing refinishing are very different jobs. That’s why we quote from photos of your actual car rather than publishing a generic figure. Send them with your postcode and you’ll get a real number before anyone travels.
It’s the same mobile team, so jobs can often be combined — alloy refurbishment with bodywork repair, or an interior restoration with a premium valet. Mention everything when you send photos.
Ready when you are
Send photos, your Southwark postcode and the street, plus whether there’s a driveway or a permit bay. We’ll review the damage, work out a legal place to stand, and confirm whether a mobile visit works for your address.
